G-Class W460 (1979 to 2000)
The civilian version of the G-Class was launched in the year 1979. The G 500 and G 55 AMG Grand Edition trims were offered with exclusive luxury features. The exterior was painted with a metallic finish and matte-silk woods were used inside the cabin.
G-Class W463 (2007 to 2015)
The 2007 model was equipped with chromed analogue dials and a four-spoke steering wheel. All the major functions were reloaded to the central console within the driver’s reach. The interior of G320 CDI, G500 and G55 AMG trims were completely wrapped in leather. Features like pedestrian protection, LED taillights and the backup camera were standard in all trims.
In the 2009 trim, comfortable leather seats were installed along with an advanced infotainment system. The engine lineup was completely revised for lower carbon emission. Therefore, 7AT V6 and V8 engines were offered in these models.

- G500 Guard: A five-door armoured version of the G-Class station wagon was launched in 2009. This long-wheelbase version has a bulletproof body.
- Limited.30: The platinum black painted model series was launched to celebrate 30 years of G-Class in the market. The interior was decorated from anthracite wood and designo leather.
- 55 AMG KOMPRESSOR “Edition 79: This limited edition was launched at the Dubai International Motor Show. The car offers19-inch titanium finish wheels, chrome grilles, designo leather upholstery and an edition logo.
- BA3 Final Edition: It was launched in 2011 and was the final series of 3-door G-Class station wagons. The final variant contains ambient lighting, 5-twin-spoke light alloy wheels, carbon stripes and an AMG grille.
G-Class 63 AMG 6X6
The G-63 model was designed to drive through any kind of terrain with ease. The car is equipped with a 6X6 drivetrain system, with two front wheels and four rear wheels. Along with this, five locking differentials and off-road reduction gear in the transfer case is also available. The Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic automatic transmission system is paired with a 5.5-Litre V8 biturbo engine. 6X6 is a limited edition series and only a handful of vehicles were manufactured.
G-Class 4X4 Squared W463 (2018 to Present)
The 2018 model series marks the launch of the second-generation G-Class. These SUVs are built on a signature boxy body frame with wide over-fenders. The steel off-road bumper and light bar was the ultimate off-roading feature offered in this model series.
A metallic mesh is used to separate the cabin from the trunk, similar mesh is used beneath the engine to secure it from external damage. Future of G-Class
The G-Class has built its market reputation and is considered as a status symbol. To cater to the shifting automobile standard, Mercedes-Benz announced plans to launch an all-electric EQS in 2024. The vehicle will have signature boxy exterior and all-terrain features. However, the engine will be replaced by four electric motors, one for each tyre.
